The state’s founding day, Kannada Rajyotsava, is celebrated annually on November 1 and is also known as Karnataka Formation Day. Every year, the Rajyotsava awards are given out, the Karnataka flag is flown, and numerous cultural events are held to mark a state holiday. The first person to dream of unifying the State was Aluru Venkata Rao, who started the Karnataka Ekikarana movement in 1905. In 1950, India became a republic, and different provinces were formed in the country based on the language spoken there. This gave birth to the state of Mysore, which included many places in south India that had been ruled by kings in the past. On November 1, 1956, Mysore state, which Thus, the three regions of the newly established Mysore state were North Karnataka, Malnad (Canara), and old Mysore. On November 1, 1973, the state’s name was changed to “Karnataka” in accordance with this logic. When this historic decision was made, Devaraj Arasu was the state’s Chief Minister.
